Digital Agriculture: Pantami sets to launch NAVSA program for 140 farmers in Gombe state—TECH Central
The Ministry of Communications and Digital economy, under the able leadership of Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, as part of its mandate of driving the digitization of all sectors of the Nigerian economy as encapsulated in the National digital economy policy and strategy( NDEPS) launched by President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration, is set to launch the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA) in Gombe state to aid digitalisation in the agriculture sector.
NAVSA is an initiative of the National Information and Technology Development Agency (NITDA),as a policy directive of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy led by Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FNCS, FBSC FIIM. NAVSA is aimed at empowering farmers on smart agriculture to improve productivity in a bid to provide food security, increase profitability, create jobs and ensure prosperity for all.
This pilot edition of the NAVSA in Gombe state is empowering 140 farmers with Smart Devices, Seed fund of 100 Hundred Thousand Naira each, Know your Farmer (KYF)- Farmers’ Idnetification, Capacity Building: Digital Agripreneurship training and skill acquisition , Connectivity (Internet access and CUG Calls by adopted farmers), NAVSA Platform (Mobile App), Financial Inclusion through digital wallets, e-Extension services, Agric as a Bsuiness and Agro Business Models’ Opportunities and Continuous reinvestment model.
The honourable Minister of communications and digital economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, is opening the empowernment initiative on Tuesday 16th February, 2021 at Gombe State University (GSU).
